Windows 7 windows update broken after disk clone

I used EASEUS Diskcopy to clone a harddisk (new disk 750 GB) and now windows update does not work. Any suggestions?

    I explored that Intel link prior to posting my first question.  I couldn't find anything related to my system's chipset (never mind that the identification utility doesn't work on Windows 7 x64).

    There are no 3rd party firewalls, anti-spyware apps, etc on this system.  It is a clean W7 x64 install.  I do have McAfee Enterprise 8.7.0i and it is current on its DATs.

    MowGreen - It is a Sony Vaio vgn-aw290 laptop.  To clarify my post yesterday, the online Java detection tool said the chipset firmware is up to date.  However, there was a identification utility that you could download.  That's what wouldn't run...

    Did some research on 4k alignment utilities.  Was reading how imaging/backup software could setup a 4k drive for misalignment.  I've got a Seagate ST9750420AS drive which apparently ... has an auto alignment utility built into the firmware.  Not sure if that makes a difference at all.

    MowGreen- Your comment on HP got me thinking and changing my GoogleFooo.  I came upon sp47845 from HP.  Installed it for the heck of it and now I'm cookin'!

    Sony and Intel were certainly of no help.  But HP was.  Thanks!
