Windows 7 windows update broken after disk clone

i have win7 ultimate 64bit:

i have this windows update error plus window defender is also bug as well. since i cant get either 1 to update. and i dont have in my "services" window update nor window defender listed. i have tried everything from this topic and still either 1 will enable so i can get them to update.

but i havent installed any new hardware at all and the last time window did update was a month ago , feb 12,2013. and so far i have no clue as to why both up and stopped working.

here is what going on: 1st when i try to do a window update, it is in red text with an X in the shield icon. and when i do click on the "check for update" tab i get the pop up of " Windows Update cannot currently check for updates, because the service is not running. you may need to restart your computer"

which doesnt do anything at all, restarting my pc.  and when i check into my "services" section i do not find window update anywhere or even****background intelligent transfer service isnt even there now as well. i cant even get window firewall to work cause i get the same error code as i do for the window defender. which is error code 0x80070424.

i do have my win7 install disc but it seems that my auto launcher for my optical doesnt work anymore as well. so i have no clue as what has happen for all of this to come to be. and i just built this computer not even 4 months ago which i did a full install of win7 ultimate 64bit. but as to why all of a sudden for this many things to go wrong, i have no clue or even where to start to look.

and so far i am about to do a format if i cant get this fix, but i hope it wont come down to this since i have a lot of games to back up and then afterwards to install. i dont have another computer with win7 on it to try and get the registry for window defender to see if that helps, since i have no entry for it.

i hope someone would be bale to come up with a fix for this, and any help will be appreciated

I used a backup/cloning tool to clone my active 500gig good drive to my 1tb new hitachi. Something happened along the way and my 500gig got screwed up. Needless to say, 3 partitions made it to the new drive as I experimented to see if it would work. Indeed it did but 2 functions were broken. Win Live Mail as I use locally to replicated from my 3rd party email and the Win Updater. After trying many things I found this and sure enough installing the newer matrix disk control drive fixed both problems. It must have something to do with the 4k advanced format of the new drive and what drivers were older on my circa  2009 quad 1st gen i7 laptop.  And on another page I saw they listed as both mail, win updater and a few others are dependent on a specific format thru some communication/knowledge of disk format and because it seems I moved to the 512emulation format on the 4k disk advanced, something got hosed. I do not know if one can use the latest v11 on the intel site.

Thanks to all!  Looks like this intel driver fixed my problem after cloning to a new disk.  Indexer is now running again.
