Windows 7 windows update broken after disk clone

I used EASEUS Diskcopy to clone a harddisk (new disk 750 GB) and now windows update does not work. Any suggestions?

    You can try updating the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver, which resolved this exact same updating issue on HP systems.

    Here's a list of Intel chipsets and controller hubs that the IRSTD supports -

    You can use this utility to determine the chipset - Intel® Chipset Identification Utility

    See this recent thread for an explanation of the issue and a workaround -ESENT/JET corruption on 4K sector hard disk drive, failure to install KB982018

    Here's the Hotfix referred to in the thread -

    I have the same problem. WIth the same error

    DtaStor FATAL: Failed to initialize datastore, error = 0xC8000247

    after installing a hard disk clone (750 Gb too). I have problems with Windows Search also.

    Thanks for your help.

    The windows update service is crossed out and red instead of green when I try to start it. When I hit <Update now> I get an error message, that the service is not running. I tried to install the new updates manually, but that did not work either. And today I put the original harddisk back in and everything worked fine.

    This is what I find in the log file:

    Specifically, when you say " windows update does not work ", what is happening ?

    Does the search for updates never end ?

    Do the updates fail to download ?

    Do the updates fail to install ?

    Open the WindowsUpdate.log ( click the Start orb > in the Search programs and files field type in windowsupdate.log. The link to it will now be showing ) and scroll all the way to the bottom for the most recent entries.

    Starting at the bottom work your way back up in the log until you find entries that include FATAL.

    Here's an example -

    Please post a recent section of the WU.log that contains recent entries that include FATAL -How to read the Windowsupdate.log file
