Original Title: My wireless Optical mouse 2000 Scroll wheel works intermittently

I recently purchased a wireless desktop set that has a wireless optical mouse 2000, Wireless Keyboard 100 and a wireless desktop receiver 3.1 in the kit. After installing the drivers and Intellitype/point software the mouse wheel doesn't work all the time, for instance after clicking my way into an eighty plus page PDF manual or long webpage the wheel seems to not work in one direction, then the other direction won't work. I've tried new batteries, latest driver package from microsoft site (intellipoint 8.01) moving closer to the receiver or farther away to the point of "low mouse signal". Today however the mouse is 2-3 feet away from the receiver and it keeps popping up saying "the mouse sigal is low would you like to start the troubleshooter?" Yes i have tried this and tried switching the usb connection to no avail. Can Anyone HELP please.... Tired of Click and Drag

The same problem here, but I have found a way to make it work (actually there are two ways LOL)

-   Remove one of the batteries.  Believe it or not, the scroll wheel works perfectly when I remove one of the battery (doesn't matter which one).  However, I don't know how long it will last since there is only one battery in operational.

OR

-  Remove the batter cover and take out the batteries.  Use a screw driver to loose the screw about 2 turns (for some reason I believe it was screwed in too tight).  Put the batteries back and you are or set.

I can not guarantee that my methods will always work, but the fact is it's working for me ever since.

    My mouse was 2 years on the shelf and I blame microsoft! I have another microsoft mouse (wired) 8 years old and worked fine until yesterday.

    Now everything is fine!

    I too found the loose screw fix to work - but only temporarily.  After a day or even a few hours, the scrolling would again fail.  I would then remove the batteries, loosen the screw another quarter turn and be in business again.  After a few times the mouse was pretty loose, so I then began tightening the screw.  That worked too.  Didn't seem right, so next time it failed, I removed the batteries then put them right back in.  Voila!  That also worked, and now I don't have to hunt around for my jeweler's screwdriver.  Wish it would stay fixed, though.

    Hey guys,

    Just wanted to know if any of you could give some instructions as to where this sacred "screw" is on the mouse. I have removed the batteries as mentioned but couldn't see any visible screw.

    I'm having the same lagg issues on the middle mouse click and its driving me nuts.

    Any help would be great.

    Point to note I do own the MS Wireless Mouse 2000 (model number 1416)

    I can't believe it. It worked. Loosening the screw worked perfectly. I first thought it was a joke. Wow. I've learned something today.
