A few days ago i noticed an update for Windows 7 Service Pack 1. I tried to install it today, it worked fine right up to the moment it asks to reboot the computer. Then after rebooting it starts up as normal update procedure however as it gets to 99% on Configuring Service Pack, it fails and I am left stuck at "Failure Configuring Service Pack, reverting changes. Please do not turn off your computer" for over 10 minutes then shuts down. Then on Bootup i notice nothing has changed and the same thing repeats. Please Help

Ok guys after weeks of not replying back after i forgot bout this question, i have managed to get it working, but that was a few months after my laptop broke in which i had to reset to factory settings, which reset all the system updates done to the laptop, then when i tried installing IE 9 and Windows 7 service pack 1 they both succeeded without issues. Guess the whole problem the entire time was a faulty update
You think wrong, then. This isn't a Mac/Windows problem; it's a complete Windows problem.
Tried again, more than a month later, and had the same problem. Seriously, can't this be fixed automatically without all these manual shenanigans?
I've lost two work days because of this. Sheesh.
My Thinkpad T60 hangs at reboot after a successful install within Windows. It shows as configuring, then "Failure configuring Service Pack. Reverting Changes" -- sits there forever.
@ SI- I agree. I've had it fail on 3 different computers now. I'm not even going to try this manual stuff on all 3- it's clearly a MS problem. Disappointing. It doesn't even give a helpful error code.
It's been quite some time since this service pack release, but I don't want to try again if stuff will still be busted.
At this point, they should have been able to at least log the cause for all these failures and check ahead of time (before installing) to see if the failure will happen.
That manual update tool listed above to run before the service pack, no matter how many times I run it, ALWAYS "installs" something -- either it doesn't work, or it's broken too.
