A few days ago i noticed an update for Windows 7 Service Pack 1. I tried to install it today, it worked fine right up to the moment it asks to reboot the computer. Then after rebooting it starts up as normal update procedure however as it gets to 99% on Configuring Service Pack, it fails and I am left stuck at "Failure Configuring Service Pack, reverting changes. Please do not turn off your computer" for over 10 minutes then shuts down. Then on Bootup i notice nothing has changed and the same thing repeats. Please Help

Ok guys after weeks of not replying back after i forgot bout this question, i have managed to get it working, but that was a few months after my laptop broke in which i had to reset to factory settings, which reset all the system updates done to the laptop, then when i tried installing IE 9 and Windows 7 service pack 1 they both succeeded without issues. Guess the whole problem the entire time was a faulty update
Folks, I posted on another thread that I had the same problem. It plagued me for months. I tried the seemingly awkward fix of network filter drivers and it worked!!!

Wow! Thanks for the post. After over a year I finally was able to get the update to SP1 installed.
Just go to the Microsoft link and follow the instructions. I did the manual change in regedit and then attempted the upgrade. it took afew attempts as several smaller updates seemed to install. They seemed to be getting hung up during the download process but seemed to perform some function when I restarted the process. I then did the suggested restart after a small but time consuming upgrade and then searched for the update again. It was still there waiting to be installed so I tried another install.
It downloaded and installed. WARNING, it seemed like it got hung up at 15% but I let it run for about 10 minutes and it started to progress.
At 30% it restarted the computer. It again seemed to hang up again but progressed after a few minutes and finished up fairly quickly. I finally got the notification that the sevice pack had been successfully installed after one more restart.
I signed in again and ran an update check. There were 15 important updates and 3 suggested updates waiting. They all installed without a hitch.

we are having this same problem...except mine actually finished the verification...but cant open findstr...everything i find says to repair the windows update...everything windows has that i can find goes back to these steps but doesnt fix it...plz microsoft help us locate the right area to fix this or find a fix...thank you
You owe me 1 laptop computer. twice now auto update downloaded service pack and crashed my computer. Your update!!!!!. My files are on this laptop and wont get past start up repair.
