When forwarding emails, pictures are stripped from text & put in slide show destroying original

I have Windows 7 & IE8. When I receive a perfectly good email with pictures or gif's embedded in the text and TRY TO FORWARD IT, the forwarded email has all the pictures stripped out & put in a slide show. The text is full of the dreaded red x's & the whole thing is unreadable.

How can I stop this? Turn off the slide show feature?

    Indeed it is not, Rickfan;

We, all of us who use WLM, ought to have this capability.  We did under Outlook Express back in the old days, and with the initial version of Windows Live Mail.

Insofar as computers and IT is concerned, I, too, was a very-non-tech person in the beginning, my only goal being to use my computer and programs as tools to accomplish what I used to do with an IBM Selectric typewriter, a lined yellow pad of paper and the US Mail.  But life has, itself, become more complicated as the years have progressed, and the tools we use are no longer as easily understood as a fountain pen, typewriter and Rolodex.

Might I suggest, in your case and similar ones, that Mozilla's Thunderbird is a very good and cost-free mail program that can be downloaded and installed easily.  I would certainly have been tempted to do this myself some time ago, had Windows Live Mail not included features that I have come to depend on.  Plus, there's the sense of satisfaction in being a part of the 'fix,' if one is eventually offered.

I'm not really replying directly to you, Electrojim, but I can't see where the **** to post without using reply.

I'm the one that revived this thread after several months of inactivity.

Obviously, I'm a Very NON Tech person, and that's my point. I don't know or care what mail service anybody else is using. I don't know what a 'client' is, and again I don't care. I was forced into using WLM a couple of months ago when I bought a new computer with W7.

I ONLY want to be able to send and forward emails (with images) In The Same Condition that I received them or composed them. Like I did/could with Vista/Windows Mail. Really. Is that so much to ask?

It seems to me that posts to this thread have degraded to Microsoft-bashing, and with little wonder.  An admitted "known problem" should well have been solved within the TWO YEARS that many of us have been complaining about this.

Well said electrojim, I like your attitude. Microsoft-bashing is definitely counter productive, co-operation from both sides is the best medicine, and you can catch more flys with honey than you can with vinegar.

That being said, I am amazed that the crew at Microsoft has not been able to reproduce the problem and come up with a solution.

Best of the season to you and yours -

It seems to me that posts to this thread have degraded to Microsoft-bashing, and with little wonder.  An admitted "known problem" should well have been solved within the TWO YEARS that many of us have been complaining about this.

Many of us feel self-righteously indignant because we have cooperated with Microsoft, linking or sending examples of the problem, ostensibly to the team charged with improving the Windows Live Mail client (program).  While I continue to wonder why action has not been taken, I would like once again to state the problem as I have come to know it.

    1. Mail messages created within WLM or MS Outlook, which include images embedded in the HTML, may be sent back and forth between these two mail clients with NO PROBLEM; that is, the images appear in the replies where they belong.
    2. These same messages, when replied-to by recipients using other clients (eg: Thunderbird and some Webmail utilities), will still show the images in the proper place when received by WLM and Outlook.  The same goes for messages that are created within Thunderbird or Webmail in the first place.
    3. HOWEVER: the message received as a reply from a recipient using Thunderbird or some Webmail utilities, or a message generated within Thunderbird or certain Webmail utilities, will still show images intact, but then cannot be replied-to or forwarded by WLM without having the images replaced by placeholders-with-red-Xs and the images appended as attachments by WLM.  At this point, WLM gives the message, "One or more pictures in this message could not be found. (etc.)"  This is NOT the case with an Outlook user, however, Outlook keeps the images embedded properly.

My experience is that the problem always exhibits itself when a WLM user corresponds back and forth with a Thunderbird user.  Outlook and Thunderbird, on the other hand, work properly with one another.  Moreover, the previous version of WLM (2009, I believe) did not have this problem.

That's my observation and I'm sticking with it.  Alternative experiences are more than welcome; let's please continue to provide worthwhile information that can be used to effect a fix.

These are not the only ones having this problem there are many people who have the same problem, but are not writing.  They are doing just like I was I just Kept checking the web site and looking for a solution to this problem.  It is about time that this problem is taken care of as this has been going on for to long.  If it is not taken care of soon I suggest that every one go to a different E-Mail provider other than Windows Mail Live.

They tell me THUNDERBIRD is very good. Think I might try it as I've had the same problem since Windows 7 and WLM. At this rate it'll soon be W dead M.
