Many thanks for your reply Rikka. I’ve been going crazy testing all the permutations & combinations of what is going wrong.
The errors are slightly different depending on the type of email I’m sending.
I’m using WLM Version 2011 (Build 15.4.3502.0922)
In the one email I’ve been testing with:
- I pick up my email through Windows Live Mail – as I used to via Outlook Express – downloaded on my desktop PC with Windows 7.
- I can also pick up my email by going directly to the Sympatico.ca website with Windows 7 and the results of 1 & 2 seem to be the same.
- I can also use my laptop (with Windows XP) and go to the Sympatico.ca website to pick up the same email………… albeit with Windows Live.
………… and here are the results.
The emails in question arrive from my contacts with jpgs or gifs embedded in the text. There are NO attachments BUT Windows Live Mail says there ARE attachments witness the paper clip on the left hand side of the directory when
I look at the website mail.
BUT
When I forward one to myself using Windows 7 the pictures are stripped out & are added as attachments (in some emails as a slide show)….with an error window that says that I have pictures missing.
When I forward the same one to myself using XP it indicates that I have attachments (?) and sends it out with attachments ………..
AND THE RESULTS WERE
The email I forwarded to myself in Windows 7 had the pictures stripped & added as attachments.
The same email I forwarded to myself using Windows XP was flawless BUT NOT ONLY THAT I could forward it to myself using Windows 7 and the pictures would NOT be stripped.
I seems to me….. that Windows Live Mail is incorrectly interpreting some (but not all) incoming messages as having attachments (which they don’t) and treating them very differently when forwarded depending on whether I use Windows
7 or XP.
I’ll get the screenshots to you as soon as I study it and figure out how.
Any ideas yet?
