Hi,
I'm using Win 7 (32 bit) with the MS arc Touch mouse software and drivers installed. Running on HP TX2 Touchsmart Tablet.
I'm facing a problem with my mouse with regards to the scroll function.
After "switching on" the mouse, there is a green led light and everything seems to work. The green LED then disappears, presumably to save battery.
However, after a short period of time, the scroll function will not work at all. There is no scroll "feedback" felt from the scroll strip either. But when I flatten the mouse and turn it back on again, everything works as per normal.
But after some time, the same problem resurfaces. Then, I have to turn the mouse off and back on again. Sometimes, the scroll function "turns" itself back on automatically. But most of the time, it just stops working altogether.
This is very irritating. It seems nobody else have encountered this issue.

Alas, I must concur. I have a first generation Surface Mouse with the USB dongle and it works great. I also have the most recent generation version without the tactile feedback and it too works great. However, the Bluetooth version with tactile feedback is a lemon. Microsoft should just offer a free trad-in for it.
I have made further modifications to my mouse. I used a little bit of electrical tape and tape up the end of the scroll sensor and that seems to make it work 100% of the time so far (see attached picture). My electrical tape just so happens to be yellow, but you can use regular black tape.
Another note, if after doing this and it seems like your scroll is working (use File Explorer and just scroll up and down to test) but your vibration motor is not working, you might have a loose motor connection. So what I did with that was to take it apart, there are 2 very small screws inside the battery compartment. Remove the sticker to get access to the screws, remove the screws then use your finger nail or a credit card to pry the top button panel off. Underneath there you will see the black and red wire attached to a metal rectangular motor. Unplug it, then use a little cloth pin and just poke at the little metal connection. Basically, what you are doing is squeezing the little metal tab so that is makes a better connection. Put everything back and see if that works for you.
thanks for working thru this with me. I tried the electrical tape hack and it worked for about 30 mins, which is the longest I have had it working, but alas, it has stopped working again.
Try leaving the scroll sensor open like in my first photo and see if the scrolling still works. When I have the scroll sensor open, the scrolling always works. Use it like that for a couple of hours and see if it continuously work. If it does, then it has something to do with that end of the sensor making contact with the plastic and causing a short. If it does not work even if the scroll sensor is open, then it's probably something else. Batteries maybe or maybe it's that loose connection with the vibration motor I mention previously. Maybe make sure that whole tab is covered up or use a thicker electrical tape. I think the culprit is that end of the sensor that is causing the scroll to stop working.
