Hi All,
I bought my original (black) Arc Touch Mouse, Surface Edition in the fall of 2014. A while later, I got Surface Support to send me a replacement due to the widespread bug of the scroll strip failing and forcing you to close and open the mouse again at frequent
intervals to get it working again. Unfortunately, the replacement mouse had the same problem.
A few months ago, I went to the Microsoft Store in St. Louis and bought a new one, figuring that either this third one would work or I could always return it. It was a black one, and it, too, had the bug, so I quickly returned it.
Finally, today, I went into the same store for a minor, unrelated problem, and mentioned my experiences with the mouse. I had thought that they only have a one-year warranty, but one fellow there told me that the warranty was honored for three years. Anyway,
they swapped my mouse out for a new gray one.
One of the guys at the store said that at some point within the past year, Microsoft had transitioned from the black to the gray mice. I've been using the gray one for about an hour now with no problems. I have no idea if this will continue, or the bug will
reassert itself, but so far, so good.
I just wanted to share a potentially good bit of news in this thread going back five years! You may want to try going to a Microsoft Store and asking for a gray replacement for your misbehaving mouse.
Regarding the innumerable Surface bugs, I thought that you might find this post very, very interesting:
