Arc Touch Mouse Scroll stops working

Hi,

I'm using Win 7 (32 bit) with the MS arc Touch mouse software and drivers installed. Running on HP TX2 Touchsmart Tablet.

I'm facing a problem with my mouse with regards to the scroll function.

After "switching on" the mouse, there is a green led light and everything seems to work. The green LED then disappears, presumably to save battery.

However, after a short period of time, the scroll function will not work at all. There is no scroll "feedback" felt from the scroll strip either. But when I flatten the mouse and turn it back on again, everything works as per normal.

But after some time, the same problem resurfaces. Then, I have to turn the mouse off and back on again. Sometimes, the scroll function "turns" itself back on automatically. But most of the time, it just stops working altogether.

This is very irritating. It seems nobody else have encountered this issue.

Please help!!

    Same issue here, I've tried all of the troubleshooting tips as well. The one thing I did find to fix it, although only temporarily, is to unbend the mouse (essentially turning it off), then bend it back. The scroll then resumes working. Obviously not the best solution as the scroll should not quit working to start with! Fix your bug Microsoft!

    Having the same problem.  I returned the first mouse I bought and the second one does the same thing.  Scroll stops working intermittently.  If I turn the mouse off and then back on again it starts to work right away and then dies a few minutes later.

    I will return it for a refund soon as there does not seem to be fix for this. 

    Poor product support and reliability on the part of Microsoft.

    I've owned the mouse for a couple of months before it started to act up. I've noticed that that the touch strip would work again momentarily if i flipped the mouse upside down. After fiddling around with the mouse i found the best solution is as follows:

    1. open up the mouse by removing the screws under the batteries (under the label0
    2. pop the mouse open

    3)the top part you will find the motor responsible for the strip vibration.

    1. all i did was take a small piece of paper, fold it up to a certain thickness( lots of trial and error though) and put it under the motor so that when the mouse is closed the paper would push on the motor and keep it in place. keep trying with different sizes as not to interfere with mouse button clicks.
    2. reassemble mouse.

    That's all. the mouse has been working flawlessly for a couple of weeks. hope this helps. let me know hos it goes.

    Hi all,

    I have the same Problem and am quite bored to wait for MS to fix this issue.

    However, as I decided to use this mouse instead of my bt-mouse (which worked great btw) I keep on using it with this Workaround:

    If the scroll"wheel" Fails to respond, just unfold (deactivate) the mouse and fold (activate) it again....works at least for me and have not read this anywhere above.

    Hi Guys, 

    I assume that there is a problem with the motor, as AFS84 mentioned. Anyway, the clicking sound was annoying me. I had the same stopping/dropping the scroll issue, and I hope it can be fixed by software.

    My solution:

    1. Download the Mouse and Keyboard Center  from http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/p/arc-touch-mouse#support.
    2. Install it, and start it.
    3. Click on the "Touch strip"
    4. Turn "Vibration/Sound" to Off.

    At least I don't have the sound and it seems that it is fixed the scrolling issue.
