Arc Touch Mouse Scroll stops working

Its pretty p*ss poor but then why do I never read reviews before buying :). Sadly looking at this post this has been an issue for 3 years and still no one has got round to bothering to look into it. Well done MS, as your business falls away everyone will look at each other with a "what went wrong, confused look on their faces", its simple, your stuff does not work and eventually people get fedup. Anyway, no issue, I'm now sending my piece of junk back to Amazon where the unfortunate retailer will get to now pay for the return courier. What a piece of poo, I'll go back to using my logitec "oh so reliable" $10 mouse instead.

Yeah as much as MS is doing much better since the release of Windows 8 - as in the ecosystem is more solid than ever between the PC tablets phones and Xbox and their cloud stuff is coming along great as well - there is always a chance they won't hold the line to the vision they portrayed in the Office Future Productivity 2009 and 2011 videos.

The biggest things being someone outside the US is that they need to advertise better and sell the dream so to speak - also they need to freakin sort out this Arc Touch mouse as it really would be a killer mouse if you know - the scroller worked.

JasonWestrupp - I have to agree. Linux is for hobbyists or special releases (ie Android).  I'm a full fledged power user and even I don't have the time or energy to burn on Linux... though I have dabbled in it periodically.

I'm not saying I don't have my doubts and concerns about MS... I'm just saying Linux is by no means an alternative right now!

Seriously? I mean the mouse would be brilliant if it wasn't for the freaking scroll wheel messing up but Linux??? Linux does not and never has had a future beyond data centres. Apple and Android are merely based on different kernels in the same way Win7 and Win8 are based on different kernals. Microsoft hasn't has a brighter future in the past 14 years as they do now. Linux is dead and Android will start to fall in the next couple years for 2 reasons - 1) lack of ecosystem - something Apple and MS have very solidly and 2) consumer computing is more and more just a commodity thing - which means when someone gets their PC home they want to turn it on log in and start working and that is what Linux lacks. With Win8.1 there is no maintenance, no messing around with stuff behind the scenes - it maintains itself in the back ground and is much more straight forward for what probably 90% of people want at home, so enjoy being part of the 1% who uses Linux on a PC and I'll stay enjoying things on the 91% of the market side of things.

Oh and without 'overpriced' stuff the kids of tomorrow will have next to no work in IT so I hope they enjoy the unemployment line.

I knew I should have bought a wireless Logitech mouse. The design and some OK reviews sucked me in. I am at work, this is the first day I have been using it. 1.5 hours into the day I just realized I wasn't doing something wrong, this mouse has a broken scroll wheel.

I can't be to mad at Microsoft. I mean I am trying to break away from Microsoft Software all together. For some reason I was just thinking "well maybe their hardware isn't as bad". First and last Microsoft thing I will ever buy again, software and hardware.

Just go Linux. Everything is ready to change over with the fact that now, Android, Firefox, Google, and Apple all make phone and desktop systems which are all Unix systems. Microsoft is dead. They will hang on for a bit, until 80% of the desktop software that you always used is now also Unix compatible. It's only business users and gamers that can't switch from Microsoft yet. All that is changing too. Computers and understanding them is the future, its a part of our world now, and its not that scary. My 11 year old brother can multitask a single terminal window almost as good as me. I taught him what open-source is, and now he is an advocate. It's almost scary how smart today's youth is. They don't need to buy overpriced stuff anymore.
