Arc Touch Mouse Scroll stops working

Hi,

I'm using Win 7 (32 bit) with the MS arc Touch mouse software and drivers installed. Running on HP TX2 Touchsmart Tablet.

I'm facing a problem with my mouse with regards to the scroll function.

After "switching on" the mouse, there is a green led light and everything seems to work. The green LED then disappears, presumably to save battery.

However, after a short period of time, the scroll function will not work at all. There is no scroll "feedback" felt from the scroll strip either. But when I flatten the mouse and turn it back on again, everything works as per normal.

But after some time, the same problem resurfaces. Then, I have to turn the mouse off and back on again. Sometimes, the scroll function "turns" itself back on automatically. But most of the time, it just stops working altogether.

This is very irritating. It seems nobody else have encountered this issue.

Please help!!

    Hi FariJo,

Over the past three weeks, even though I've used my mouse extensively, I've only had the problem happen once, to my amazement. Before Windows 10, it used to happen about every ten or fifteen minutes.

It seems that none of us is any closer to identifying the real cause. We still don't know if it's a hardware problem, a firmware problem, or a driver problem--or some combination of these. This thread is turning into a mystery novel. :)

    Good Luck,

    Steve

Exact same issue here. Unfortunately i don't have to original box anymore to return the mouse back. This should never happen with an Apple mouse.

Also Microsoft is just ignoring this issue. Very bad service!

I downloaded the Microsoft Arc Mouse Bluetooth Software and clicked "Restore Defaults" and then turn off middle click and also the Page Up / Page Down functions. But to no avail, my mouse still occasionally stops scrolling. Windows 10 has not resolved the issue. Not good enough, I will probably have to go back to a logitech or something next time unless MS acknowledge the issue and release a better model.

    Hi Pingu,

Although I've never tried "Restore Settings...," scrolling has been working for me for over one week, which has never been the case before. It first seemed to start working approximately two days before my upgrade to Windows 10 on 29 Jul 2015. Perhaps one of the firmware updates that Microsoft released for the Surface Pro 3 fixed the problem.

Perhaps there was a bug in the Bluetooth driver that Microsoft finally found and fixed, but there's no way to tell. The lack of communication from Microsoft about this is frustrating, and I suspect that it has cost them a great deal of money in customer support and mouse replacements that didn't solve the problem anyway.

I'd be curious to hear if anyone has used their Arc Touch Mouse, Surface Edition with a non-Surface device, and if so, if they've experienced the scrolling problem. It would be interesting to know if the scrolling problem was specific to Surface devices, or a problem with Windows 8.1 across the board.

If others have experienced a resolution to the scrolling problem after upgrading to Windows 10, or continued to experience the problem, please let us know your experience.

    Thanks,

    Steve

I had problems with my Arc mouse on a Surface Pro 3 where the scroll stopped working.  I ran the Arc Mouse software and clicked on Restore Settings.... all working fine now.  Looks like it is a software problem.
