Arc Touch Mouse Scroll stops working

This mouse scroll issue has me frustrated too!  I've been checking in every so often to see if there has been a fix yet, and I'm surprised there hasn't been one identified.  I get the same exact scroll failure on my Arc Touch Surface Edition Mouse (model #1592, MPN #E6W-00001, lot #1449, ); intermittent failure that slows the scroll responsiveness down until it is completely unresponsive. A quick close and open fixes it, but I seem to be doing this multiple times a day when I shouldn't have to.

This is the second mouse I've had and it seems much worse with this one than my previous one, which I ended up donating to a hotel room I stayed in.  As a matter of fact, I don't even remember having this issue on the first one I had. The first one I had looked exactly the same, but had a different MPN (MPN #P9X-00002); perhaps an earlier edition?

I just disabled the tap to page up/down because I seem to inadvertently keep paging up, so we'll see if that helps at all as others have suggested.  Hopefully there will be a fix for it soon!

Take the battery out and put it back in.  It worked for my one with the same problem.

Since all three of us (and probably many thousands of others) are experiencing a (relatively) "slow slide" into scrolling failure (lasting a few seconds) rather than a full stop (instantaneous failure), that suggests that the manufacturing process is consistent. If there's a hardware flaw with the mice stemming either from the design of the hardware or the manufacturing process, then it's consistent for all of us. This is good, because it means that it should in principle be reproducible by Microsoft.

If it were an electromechanical problem with some of the mice, then we would expect some degree of variability with regard to how scrolling fails. That all three of us report the same type of failure is suspicious. If it were a problem with electromagnetic interference, I'd think that our experiences with scrolling failure would be different.

I really wonder why there aren't more public complaints about the problem.

recruit2, Microsoft sent me a free second mouse, too, but it still had the same problem. I'm puzzled as to why it happens less frequently for me now than it used to, but it still does happen.

I'm going to try to find the right person to contact at Microsoft so that we can at least know that Microsoft is truly aware of this problem.

Yep exactly what happens for me as well. It slows down gradually and becomes worse, then stops scrolling suddenly.

PS - Microsoft were kind enough to send me a brand new replacement mouse.

But after a few days, even the brand new mouse suffers from this issue.

Latest Win 10 drivers latest everything.

It 100% has to be a design fault built into the hardware that has been very difficult for them to debug.

For what it's worth, here's another observation about scrolling. Just a few seconds before scrolling is about to fail, I notice that it gets harder and harder to scroll. It doesn't stop immediately, as if a signal had been lost. It just gets harder. I try to scroll more, yet I don't manage to scroll as much as before despite my increased effort. And then, scrolling stops altogether until I close and open the mouse again.

Has anyone else observed this?

Yes, it's exactly how it happens.
