network icon says "no internet access" but i am connected

Hey guys,

so I'm having a bit of an issue. I'm running a fresh install of win7 for over a week without any problems. Yesterday, for no apparent reason (ie. no updates, no modifications, no new software install...really NOTHING) my network access icon on the bottom right taskbar has a yellow triangle over it and says i have "no internet access" even though i clearly have internet.

I probably wouldnt be worried too much if it was just a wrong icon, but the problem is, software that check for updates and checks to see if im online keeps saying im offline and can only work in offline mode.

This is causing a serious issue.

Any1 have any clues how to fix this?

I run Kasp Antivir 2010 and thats about it. No other wierd or free software...no extra firewalls nothing. I just dont get how it can just happen from 1 day to the other.

Oh and the whole win7 "Troubleshoot" didnt detect any problems.

cheers.

M.

Hi,

If the issue persists then, create a Windows user account and check if this issue occurs with the new user account.

Refer the link to create a new user account.

To fix the corrupted profile follow the steps mentioned in the following article.

‘Fix a corrupted user profile’

    Hi,

Open services.msc and restart Network Location Awareness.

This usually solves almost all UI indicators went awry.

    Thanks,

    Alex

Easy fix. At Command Prompt (admin):

ipconfig /releasenetsh winsock resetnetsh int ip reset

    Restart computer. Fixed!

Problem is some WIndows 10 update. We have fixed 100+ computers this way. Don' t know what's going on....

I wonder how many of the "solutions" have "stuck".  When I reset the REGKEY as folks have listed, it worked until the system was rebooted IF they were in the "dock" at the time. My Desktop AutoCAD users have NOT had this issue with their WIN7PRO systems. Makes no sense sometimes. I have theories as to why the dock status matters but not knowledge.

I can work around this because I have few users who see this as a problem affecting their work - most would not notice a fire in the monitor until they could not see the screen. I an environment where 200 users are affected it's not easy to work around.

I takes all of two searches on the Net to see this is a large problem. Some of the posters here have noted that MS techs could not solve it (as I discovered with Dell techs), so MS should be aware of it.
