Drag and Drop confirmation prompt? Accidentally moving files.

Ever since upgrading to Windows 7, we have had a problem with people inadvertently moving folders by dragging and dropping when meaning to double click.  Is there a way to turn on a confirmation prompt ("are you sure you want to...") when dragging and dropping files/folders?  It seems that previous versions of Windows had this prompt, but it has since been removed.  This is happening in our office on at least a weekly basis, sometimes daily, and we have to spend time searching for the moved folder.  If MS is unable to help, is there software that we can purchase to accomplish this?

Windows 7 made no changes: there has never been a confirmation prompt like you describe.

One workaround is to increase the distance you must move the pointer before it triggers a drag.  Under the following registry key, you'll see DragHeight and DragWidth, which define the number of pixels the mouse must move before the drag is initiated:

Computer\HKEY_CURRENT\USER\Control Panel\Desktop

    If you are  consumer with any basic conputer skills... these forums are not the right place to be to find... wait.. let me stsye this correctly... not the right place to get solutions, unless of course, you ate not in the practice of using the control panel and properties. Microsoft reps only offer what you have already tried through the settings, controls, properties, and Help section.

    This drag/drop confirm program worked on my Win 7 Pro machine, in terms of popping up the warning.  HOWEVER, once moved, I was unable to move the folder back.  Kept getting a message that it was open or being used by another process.  Closing and restarting Windows Explorer didn't help.

    I had to uninstall the program to be able to move the folder back to its original place.

    I have installed it on both win 8.1 and wind 10 machines.  Installs easily and works great.

    FYI DiasAlessandro, that app has already been discussed... see previous posts on this thread.  broken-e wrote that app to help people on this thread.
