After using Windows Vista for years in my Dell Inspiron1420 laptop  I now get message on screen

"Windows Vista  Build 6002 This copy of Windows is not genuine  "

I am then told

This copy of Windows is not activated.Click here to activate Windows now

Product ID  89578-OEM-7332157-00204   Change Product Key

when I do that I am told it is INVALID

Dell confirm they do not preload fake windows software.

What can I do?

    If a reply does not include In reply to DWD007, it's not a reply to your post (unless you started the thread AND the post is not prepended with "In reply to" at all.

    Neither Noel nor myself work for or represent Microsoft.

    Your problems are being caused by a hijackware infection. It's time to format the HDD & do a clean install of Windows.
