After using Windows Vista for years in my Dell Inspiron1420 laptop  I now get message on screen

"Windows Vista  Build 6002 This copy of Windows is not genuine  "

I am then told

This copy of Windows is not activated.Click here to activate Windows now

Product ID  89578-OEM-7332157-00204   Change Product Key

when I do that I am told it is INVALID

Dell confirm they do not preload fake windows software.

What can I do?

    So it's my fault that people can't follow instructions?

    Sorry - you're beginning to lose goodwill at this end.

    If you can't or won't respond in a timely manner in the right place, then you have only yourself to blame.

    You went to the other forum  - which was the correct thing to do - and then left it more than 10 days before complaining here, rather than responding in the other forum, despite having had at least three emailed updates on your post in the other forum.

    Then when I pointed out the other forum response, again, you responded here.

    and .... no  I've said enough, and I'n just gtting myself worked up over nothing.

    I also followed this link below.....

     and got the reply that my version of windows is no longer for sale and was prompted to buy the windows 7 version which I know is incompatable with my machine ,,,and im buggered if im paying $149/£143 ....just so microsoft can push their new software onto the market !

    I do appollogise if this caused any confusion but I can only follow the instructions given to me in my e-mail box ?

    as above is what I do think is what you require as per my e-mail istruction.

    If this is not correct please could you advise accordingly?
