After using Windows Vista for years in my Dell Inspiron1420 laptop  I now get message on screen

"Windows Vista  Build 6002 This copy of Windows is not genuine  "

I am then told

This copy of Windows is not activated.Click here to activate Windows now

Product ID  89578-OEM-7332157-00204   Change Product Key

when I do that I am told it is INVALID

Dell confirm they do not preload fake windows software.

What can I do?

    I can see no recent responses other than between the wo of us.

    Windows 8 will not be out fo 18 months yet - do you really want to wait that lomg?  :)

    There is nothing either strange or unusual about your problem - it's a common enough one in these forums.

    For what version and edition of Windows is the COA Sticker key valid?

    My problem with Vista is getting more convoluted with emails addressed to NOEL and Cecilia neither of whom is me ending up in my inbox ,,,,they seem to have a similar problem though so are the 3 of us going around in a circle now.At this rate we might be obliged to purchase Windows 8 to resolve our strange and inexplicable problem

    OK I keyed in the product key but got message

    the product key you have entered does not appear to be a valid Windows Vista productt key

    what else can I do next
