I am immensely grateful.I don't know if you have been awarded a community star or are the Community Star!
Was this caused by malware or a windows glitch or something else?
Are you based in the USA? You probably guessed that I am in the UK.

Product ID 89578-OEM-7332157-00204 Change Product Key

Nope - you got exactly what you should have got :) You are only offered MSE and IE9 if you passed Validation.
Heh! - we'll get you to geekdom yet :)
The output from the two commands is fine - I was worried earlier becuase it's unusual for the SLUINotify service to be running at the time that you shut down the SLSVC, but it was onbiously just a temprorary state.
You should be good to go now.
Good Luck!
Regarding the minor error I get a notice that the valisation process might take a few minutes and not to go away and then I get a MS Windows promotional pages offering a mfree download of Essentials. Am I not waiting long enough or what?
Meanwhile the following is the result of the commands you gave me (having copied on to a pad by hand I discovered I could right click and use select all and then paste on my reply

The MGADiag report looks OK - there's a minor errror that you can correct by manual validation at www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate
Yes - bring up the command prompt window as you did for repairing the Licensing store, and then use the commands.
Good Luck!
To run the 2 Commands where do I go? Do I type in Step 2 of your instructions for each one?
