Does microsoft have a software that cleans, repairs and fix errors on registry for free?

This topic keeps getting resurrected because many folks are uninformed, younger users who have entered the world of computing and others are looking for some magic cure for various system problems. If you have been using such a program routinely or followed the advice of some so-called technician...there is no telling what damage it has already done to your registry and other areas it purports to clean. I suspect that is the reason for your registry error messages unless it it is the program you are currently using which is giving the errors.

There are numerous programs which purport to improve system performance, make repairs and tune up a computer. Many of them include such features as a registry cleaner, registry optimizer, disk optimizer, etc. These registry cleaners and optimizers claim to speed up your computer by finding and removing orphaned and corrupt registry entries that are responsible for slowing down system performance. There is no statistical evidence to back such claims. Advertisements to do so are a marketing ploy intended to goad users into using an unnecessary and potential dangerous product. I would not trust any results such programs detect as problematic or needing repair nor recommend using the options to fix them.

Further, these types of junk optimization programs are often bundled with other software you download and most are considered Potentially Unwanted Programs (PUPs) so they may be detected or even removed by some security scanners which specifically look for PUPs and adware.

Why you should not use Registry Cleaners and Optimization Tools

 NO!!! There is no cure all fix all.....though ....big though I found a piece of compiled open-source software that includes from antivirus, anti-root , windows built-in functions( to replace or just fix a misbehaving function), also it includes network tools, archiving tools such as 7zip and WinRar. Some of the tools require license to function properly ,but most of them are free software or on a trial-basis. The only thing I have to say before the downloading of the software , which is called Tech Tools Store , you might want to find a way to check the links of the apps it downloads since they come from various non-centralized places. I have used it to download everything from Avast anti-virus ,Winrar, Anti-root kits, DNS switcher( very very handy for slow connections ) , CCleaner, and even Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. Check into it if you are having issues, this is said to be the "Cure-all" for all of your problems, well I have to say its at very least taken care of 70-80% of my issuses.

    The only problem I have had from the program was trying to install network framework 3.5. Idk I keep getting a 0x88 ... error code, This is why I conclude that in all my technological education ( mostly involving smartphones ) that it is much better to run a simple Linux-based operation. I don't want you to be mistaken Linux is based on the command line for quite a bit of its installing of applications and other poweruser applied sciences , but don't let that deter you from trying linux. I truly had zero command line experience prior to Linux last year , now I could hardly say I would care to ever use windows. Thats the downside of Linux, you wont be able to run every application , but they have sooo soo many alternatives to pretty much anything you can think of . Though you do run into the occasional Window Only program , I could probably easily compare this issue to the same one that Mac users have. The main thing you get with Linux is privacy,security , and a very smooth operating system. Since everything is command line based any error that you will recieve wont be your OS breaking down, we will get into that in a second, the errors will 99% be all user error and easily corrected. Don't be scared of entering codes , truly you can start off looking everything up and just copying and pasting from the forums/support sites. Another plus its a large community of self-empowered users that take everything they learn and put it into use by usually writting step-by -step tutuorials and troubleshooting , and not to mention the support team.

  If you ever run into a serious problem the people at asklinux or stack-echange and various others will ALWAYS answer any kind of problem. As long as you can ask it or the error or problem arises and you can place some of the steps that you went thru to get to this point they will fix it everytime. I hardly consider myself a " Nerd" unquote , and grew up hanging with the "in-crowd" , so the only pc techy knowledge I have is trial by error/fire and Youtube/studying. Its truly so nice to run a command , install the program , and not have to see that error box that always comes up atleast once a week/month telling you some random asd code that you cant even fix let alone learn how to fix. It seems everything is hush-hush in the micro community, hence this "insiders" program .

LAST but not LEAST Linux is absoulutely free !! And its OS's are updated quite easily and frequently usually fixing any/all errors that may arise. So if you want to do more than just web browsing and get some stuff done and push your pc to what it was actually built to do +more , well than a "distro"( linux has many flavors to meet your needs) of Linux such as Ubuntu or for the Rookie you can try Linux Mint . I currently recommend Ubuntu-mate or Arch Linux for the in the know user.

An operating system getting infected with malware is like a car getting into a wreck. If it's just a fender bender, you may be able to fix it easily. But if it's a major crash, then repairing the car is impossible, and it must be replaced. The same is true with your operating system. A major malware infection will cause damage that CANNOT BE FIXED. That install can never be made reliable and trustworthy again. No software can repair such a computer, no matter what they tell you.

Experts recommend wiping the entire hard drive and reinstalling the OS from scratch because it is the only way to really be sure you have eliminated all malware, and it is also the fastest, easiest, and most reliable way to get a fully working computer again.

It also means losing whatever is saved on your hard drive, and so most people recommend making backups of your files before doing a restore.

Repairing broken profiles and broken operating systems is hard, unreliable, and frustrating. You'll think you have it fixed, and discover something else that's still wrong. This will happen many times, and no matter what, you'll never be sure you actually fixed all the problems.

Here's what I do when I need to fix a computer that was badly compromised by malware. It works very well and is much faster and easier than trying to "repair" the existing OS.

• Remove the old hard drive, and install a new one
• Do a new clean install of Windows on the new hard drive
• Log in, set up your account, and install your applications
• When you need to retrieve something from the old profile, connect the old hard drive to the computer with a USB sata dock such as this one and retrieve only those files. Do not copy over entire folders
• Eventually, you will be done with the old drive, and can reformat it and use it for something else

The AppData folder is a hidden folder in your user profile that contains user-specific settings and cached information for your programs. Most of the content is cache data and settings that are easily replaced. The only specific things that you may want to keep would be browser bookmarks, archived emails, or programs that store data in that location (Google Earth is one example.) If you don't care about any of those things, then you can just delete the old profile.

It sounds like you really need someone with experience to help you through these issues. This is not something that can be done through these comments. I recommend contacting a local computer expert for help.
