Hi,

Have you made any changes to your computer prior to the issue?

Method 1: Run SFC scan. System File Checker (sfc) scan will make Windows replace corrupt or missing system files on your computer.

 Steps to perform sfc scan:

a. Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator.

b. Click Continue or supply Administrator credentials if prompted.

c. In the Command Prompt window type the following, and press Enter:

sfc /scannow

Method 2:

Check if the issue persists in safe mode, to boot the computer in safe mode follow the below steps:

a.     Restart the computer and press and hold F8 key (Press and hold f8 key before the windows logo).

b.     From the advanced boot option select ‘Safe mode’.

One way I have been able to fix this with our users, is to recreate their profile from scratch.

  1. I reboot the PC.
  2. Then login with the domain admin account.
  3. I rename the users folder that is having the issue and delete the users registry entry in {HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList}
  4. I also rename the users profile folder in the DC this is the username.V2 folder.
  5. I log off their PC and have user log in.
  6. After they authenticate their desktop looks brand new with none of their files, so I log back in as admin and copy over their files from the local users folder I renamed.

This is the only way I have been able to fix this in a domain environment using Windows 7 desktops. I hope this helps.

    My problem is still not resolved.  Windows 7 64 bit ultra Windows Media Player still does not play music or aduios.  I tried all of the sessions and found 2 files that needed to be removed:  u2 Local (text file in Post Word Pad) and Japclass in Word Pad).  They were deleted from Word.  I still have no sound in Windows Media Player and do no know what to do next. 

    Is there a way to completely uninstall Windows 7 Media Player and reinstall same?

    I intend to update to Windows 10 in the next 50 days but need to prepare my laptop now.  There are duplications of documents and files. I am eligible for a no charge update.

    What do you suggestion do? my lap top contain documents for 3 books in Microsoft Offcie 2013, 26 years of genealogu research and draft and outline for my book on my Cherokee grandmother and the 4 great grandmothers preceding her with all copies of documents and photos.  I back up at Norton 360; DropBox; and tablet. Also my financial records and family records are also on my computer.

    Please give me some reliable advice. I am 83 years old and first started using a computer with dos and fortan in 1975.  I just feel extremely uncomfortable with what is going on right now.

    I ended up re-installing Windows 7 as an upgrade. 

    This leaves your data untouched, but it is always good to get a backup before you do it.

    It seems to me that it is not worth trying to fix specific problems, because you get another error message while you are trying to fix the original problem.  It seems that problems are endless, and trying to fix them one by one is a waste of time.

    So;

    1. backup your data, and
    2. re-install windows 7 as an upgrade.

    Upgrade installation is possible even if you have Windows 7 already installed.
