Printer offline-How can I change it to "on-line"

How can I change a printer that is networked from "off-line" to  "online" to one computer?

Ours is accessible to my computer but not my wife's as her status is "off-line."

Hi WVseagull,

Check the status of the printer at Control Panel. Set it to online if it’s shown as offline. If this doesn’t fix the problem, check whether installing the vista driver available at your printer manufacturer’s website helps.

Step 1:

a. Click Start, go to Control Panel and select Hardware and Sound.

b. Click Printer.

c. If the Printer is offline, it shows “Offline” status. If the Printer is online it shows “Ready”.

d. If the Printer is offline, set it to online.

e. Right-click on the printer and select “Use Printer Online”.

f. The display should change to ready when the printer is set to online.

Step 2:

If still you are facing issues, then update the printer driver. This should fix the problem.

    The easier solution would be to have the lazy, lazy programmers at microsoft figure out why their operating system can't find perfectly functioning, online printers, and then fix that problem.

    But no. Microsoft prefers workarounds. Fixing their own mistakes would be to admit to making mistakes, and that would trigger their psyochopathic shame avoidance issues.

    This is why mental health needs to be a bigger issue in america. Mentally ill people are ruining the world and they have the power to say "we don't want to face our own issues. It's YOUR problem."

    Just know, Microsoft people, that the whole world knows how deeply messed up you are. Every time you post "work-arounds" we are not fooled. We pity your spouses.

    I changed for verizon to cox now my printer will not work.

    Go to Printer Properties, Ports and clear the box indicating SNMP status. Then, log off from your computer, and restart , when you do the printer will be online
