Keyboard won't work on laptop

I just woke my laptop up and the keyboard didn't work, every key that i hit typed 5. So I restarted my laptop and now the keyboard won't type nothing. Any answers?

Hi James,

Who is the manufacturer of Laptop?

Are you using external keyboard?

Most of the time when you hit letters you get numbers with laptop and the workaround is to Try hit the Fn Lock key and Num Lock Key,

If your keyboard stopped working completely then you may try the steps below:

Shutdown the laptop and Remove the battery. Hold in the power button for a few seconds. This resets the motherboard. Replace the batter and startup as normal.

If non of the options work then you may with system restore asper the Link below:

    But my keyboard (MSI laptop) won't let me press the Key ( option a ) but will let me press the windows key

    Mine did this also  I even bought a new computer after I replaced the keyboard and it still wouldn't work.  Then Windows 10 installed, and magically it started working again.  Now it is starting to loose some letters again.  Why?

    i found out that if you restart your device a couple of times it works again
