Keyboard won't work on laptop

I just woke my laptop up and the keyboard didn't work, every key that i hit typed 5. So I restarted my laptop and now the keyboard won't type nothing. Any answers?

Hi James,

Who is the manufacturer of Laptop?

Are you using external keyboard?

Most of the time when you hit letters you get numbers with laptop and the workaround is to Try hit the Fn Lock key and Num Lock Key,

If your keyboard stopped working completely then you may try the steps below:

Shutdown the laptop and Remove the battery. Hold in the power button for a few seconds. This resets the motherboard. Replace the batter and startup as normal.

If non of the options work then you may with system restore asper the Link below:

    I am not using external keyboard, but using just laptop keyboard.

    Hello, 

    Thanks for your time in replying me. 

    I don't get clear meaning by pressing Fn Lock key and Num Lock Key,

    I see "FN" key, but does not know what you mean "Fn Lock Key" 

    Did you meant that I am supposed to press those two keys of "FN" and "NUM LOCK" at the same time?

    As to removing the battery, it does not work as it looks stored inside the laptop, which I don't know how to open the case before removing the battery and resetting. My system is Satellite S55t-A5237 made by Toshiba.

    Microsoft fault if happens in multiple platforms, this issue must be patched asap or many move to Linux.
