Out of Paper Error When there is Paper

My computer is giving me an error that my printer is out of paper and it is not. It has done this with three different printers.

2011-12-22T19:21:25+00:00 If you've tried sorting this out with 3 different printers(i.e. 3 different drivers), there's only a couple of this remaining:
- USB/Printer cable - try a different one.
- BIOS - restart computer -> BIOS -> Check if bi-direction ECP/EPP enabled
- Windows - do a repair install from original disks.

2012-11-27T19:30:08+00:00 Windows 8 on two computers appeared to be the source of my printers both sending out of paper mmessages / errors, though both will print self tests just fine. One is HP OfficeJet Pro L7780, other is Brother HL-5370DW. Was having problems with desktop recently upgraded to Windows 8, though it could still print and was the only printer that would connect to the HP through USB. Upgraded firmware on HP and drivers for Windows 8, then things got worse. A laptop had same problem - "out of paper" message, even though paper was in it, it would print report requested from printer itself, just won't accept anything from another computer.
Was able to print from a Windows 7 laptop - once. Now getting the same message / error there, "out of paper." Also happened on Brother - printed once, then no more print jobs, "Paper" error light flashes.
Problem is thus on different printers, whether usb connected or through network, I have turned things off and on, done everything. Problem occurs both on Windows 7 and Windows 8 machines.
Please help.

2014-05-13T15:18:55+00:00 When you say reboot, do you mean the actual computer? As I have turned off the printer and unplugged. Have also done all of the above steps. It seems like it is frozen if that makes sense? It ran out of paper while I was doing something then I had to run out of the house. I forgot about it and then noticed/remembered (maybe a few days later) and just hit the green button (go/enter button) just to make the flashing exclamation stop. Then when I tried to print it said out of paper. Like I said, I have done everything listed. Going to reboot computer now.... Please work, please work, please work....

2014-05-31T05:30:23+00:00 I had this "Out of Paper" message, too. Went thru the recommended steps to fix it. Nothing worked. So, I turned the printer aroun to see where to unplug and replug the power and noticed
the back panel was not fully in place. Took it off, removed a crumpled piece of paper, put the panel back on, and -you guessed it. No mkore "out of Paper" message and the printer worked fine again. Thought I wold share that with you all.
