My computer is giving me an error that my printer is out of paper and it is not. It has done this with three different printers.

Open services then find the Print Spooler.
Restart the print spooler, and it should fix the issue, or it did for me at least.
unfortunately not for me.
I have a server 2012 R2 back end, with the LaserJet 400 installed via WSD port. Bidirectional is already turned off, and spooler re-started on both client and server...

3ICE's suggestion worked for me. Restart print spooler service. Then view->refresh the "what's printing" printer properties window
