Can't uninstall iTunes program due to missing itunes.msi file.

I click on itunes icon error Problem with shortcut This action is only valid for products that are curently installed. First I tried searching for the file, no luck. I tried system restore. I tried "winrar" apparantly there were no files to extract. i also tried "Ccleaner" is there anything else I can do I've been trying for 48 hours!This is the  error message upon uninstalling - the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click Ok or try again or enter an alternative path to folder containing the installation package 'itunes.msi' in the box below. I ran a search and found a file browsed the path selected open and another error message saying it isnt a valid installation package for the itunes program. try to find the itunes.msi in a folder from which you can install itunes.

Windows Installer cleanup utility is no longer available for download from Microsoft. It was found to damage other components and should not be used.

With that said, it would be best to post this issue in the Apple discussion forums for assistance.

Delete all Apple products from your computer.

Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order:

  1. iTunes
  2. QuickTime
  3. Apple Software Update
  4. Apple Mobile Device Support
  5. Bonjour
  6. Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)

Then download and install the latest version of iTunes for your operating system.

    A response to my first message about inability to delete iTunes advised me to "try Revo Uninstaller".  I did, and for good measure, having been diverted by their rap for ARO 2011, the demo of which indicated 2300+ registry errors, I installed that as well. So I spent the money for ARO 2011, cleaned the registry---and iTunes will still not delete.

    Any other ideas? Am I doomed to have the same version of iTunes forever?

    You fell for an ad. I'm truly sorry to hear that. Never download or purchase anything from that type of ad. Especially a registry cleaner.

    Moving on. Download Windows Installer Cleanup from the link below. Never mind the post above. I have never had it to cause problems. Alternatively, you could just manually remove it but, I do not recommend that unless you know what you are doing.

    I have spoken to Apple--they sent me here. I received the same advice from APple as bove, i.e install all six Apple programs, then reinstall iTunes.

    I tried to uninstall iTunes and related components. I failed on the first one--iTunes--for the same reason that I could not update to 10.2.2., i.e. missing itunes.msi file.

    So...I cannot update iTunes OR remove iTunes due to having no findable itunes.msi file.

    NOW WHAT?
