Can't uninstall iTunes program due to missing itunes.msi file.

I click on itunes icon error Problem with shortcut This action is only valid for products that are curently installed. First I tried searching for the file, no luck. I tried system restore. I tried "winrar" apparantly there were no files to extract. i also tried "Ccleaner" is there anything else I can do I've been trying for 48 hours!This is the  error message upon uninstalling - the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click Ok or try again or enter an alternative path to folder containing the installation package 'itunes.msi' in the box below. I ran a search and found a file browsed the path selected open and another error message saying it isnt a valid installation package for the itunes program. try to find the itunes.msi in a folder from which you can install itunes.

Windows Installer cleanup utility is no longer available for download from Microsoft. It was found to damage other components and should not be used.

With that said, it would be best to post this issue in the Apple discussion forums for assistance.

Delete all Apple products from your computer.

Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order:

  1. iTunes
  2. QuickTime
  3. Apple Software Update
  4. Apple Mobile Device Support
  5. Bonjour
  6. Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)

Then download and install the latest version of iTunes for your operating system.

    Listen If you had a user that was so vidictive as to delete primary folders then re-install Windows. Don't take chances that are unnecessary.

    The original folder in WIN XP where the files were stored is no longer there--the user left the company and when I try to uninstall it looks in the DOCUMENTS and SETTINGS folder under the old users name--which is not there-- and fails the uninstall.  The old folder shows as   C:\DOCUME~1\dlamar\LOCALS~1\Temp\IXP8....  when attempting to uninstall and it is just not there.

    Tried several uninstallers and all point to that folder.  All the Apple mobile and Apple Software apps are still installed as the utility REVO sees them when using it to try an uninstall.

    I tried all the routes then rang Apple who gave me the order to uninstal the whole list.  As the information was for an older system of xp it was a slow process but in the end it worked.  The right order is imperative or there will still be threads in your system.  When you download iTunes afterwards be sure to request previous iTunes libraries to be installed or it will take ages to locate them and if you are identifying an ipod or and ipad with iTunes, you will have to identify them again with this new iTunes.  My problem had been simply that I had tried to remove Bonjour without realising it was going to corrupt other files which relied on it.

    Thank you all for your help.  Please just check with Apple for the right order and keep a note of it.  I didn't sadly.
