Cannot download iTunes for Windows 7 64-bit.

Iam trying to install ITUNES. I have Windows 7 .I am running 64-bit. I can not get ITUNES to download. It says it is incompatible. I tried version 9.02, anyone please help!!!

When using a 64 Bit Version of Windows always try to get the 64Bit version Applications to ensure Full Compatibility and Stability.

iTunes also provides a 64Bit version.

Download iTunes 64Bit from : http://www.filehippo.com/download\_itunes\_64/

Hello all,

If you are still having problems installing iTunes on Windows, then try the following:

I suggest you download and install the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility fromhere.

You can use the utility to remove installation information for programs that were installed by using Windows Installer. Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.

Once you have opened the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility, it will populate all of the programs installed on your computer by Windows Installer. Select iTunes and then click on the Remove button. It will remove any corrupt or incomplete iTunes files from your computer. Then remove Bonjour and QuickTime. They will both be installed again with iTunes.

NOTE: iTunes Store purchases or songs imported from CDs are saved in your My Music folder by default and are not deleted by removing iTunes.

Then go to Apple.com and download the latest version of iTunes for 64-bit and try the installation again. You should now be successful in installing iTunes.

You are probably getting errors because the iTunes that you originally installed is too old to be updated. I recommend that you uninstall iTunes 8 completely by following the detailed instructions in the following service bulletin from Apple:

Read this bulletin carefully and uninstall all Apple software in the proper sequence to avoid problems. Reboot your system after the 'Uninstall' before you continue.

After you have rebooted, download iTunes from this site:

http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

When you open the download page, notice that the upper option is selected by default. Although it says XP, Vista, Windows7 you DON'T want this download. Select the option below this, which is labeled Windows 64 bit.

I just bought a new lap top and had the same problem..i went to this site and downloaded and now is all working for the windows 7..hope it helps out

you want version 9.1.1 available from the Apple site above. This is the latest version for Win 7 64 bit. It worked for me but remember to remove all old Apple software from your PC before installing.

I still can not get Itunes to detect my apple TV on the home network. Does anyone have this problem too?

Hi all,

I just went through all the nonsense required to install iTunes for Windows 7 64-bit, which includes sifting through 16 pages of message board material. Originally, my problem was that the installer was getting hung up on installing Quicktime. It kept giving me an error message that "iTunes needs Quicktime." After three unsuccessful tries of installing and uninstalling iTunes 10, I finally found my solution here. What worked for me:
1. Uninstalling all Apple programs using the Control Panel uninstall application.
2. Manually deleting all Apple programs from the C drive in the Program Files and Program Files (x86) folders. I basically did everything I could to get rid of every last Apple program.
3. Install all remaining Windows updates.
4. Restarting my computer.
5. Downloading the newest version of iTunes 10.2.2 for 64-bit Windows.
6. This is key: before running the setup file, right-click on the setup file's icon and select "Troubleshoot compatibility," then select "Worked on Windows Vista (service pack 2)"
7. Another key point: change the location where the setup file installs iTunes by manually deleting (x86) from the file location.
8. Run the installation.
Now, I don't have an iPhone, so I don't know how this will affect iPhone users, but now iTunes runs and recognizes my iPod. Before, only Quicktime would run, and iTunes wouldn't even show up on my computer. I want to thank everyone who contributed to this thread in a positive manner, you all helped me a lot. I am posting this so you know you helped someone, and to let other people with this problem know that the process can successfully reconcile compatibility issues between iTunes and Windows 7 64-bit. Thank you!
