Hello,

My computer is stuggling to get internet access, I keep getting this message - Your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the device or resource (DNS server) is not responding).  All of the other computers in my house are connected with no difficulty.  Any suggestions?

I resolved the problem.  When my router lost power, somehow the addresses got changed so the IP address of the wireless Dell computer no longer fell in the pool of addresses maintained by the router.  When I reconfigured by router and had released and renewed my IP address on the Dell computer, everything started working again.

    I have a problem along these lines as well. I Diagnosed the Network error through windows diagnose tool or what not and it said the DNS server is not responding but I still get most internet. Youtube, gmail, this all these things work but I can't connect to seperate severs, such as Steam for gaming and what not. I Tried the above mentioned steps and when i did the

    3.      At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER: 

    ipconfig /registerdns (there is a space between ipconfig and / )

    it said the requested operation requires elevation. So i don't know if it worked the way it was supposed to or no. but either way the DNS still doesn't respond. Any Ideas?

    So again internet mostly works but I can't connect to outside servers...or at least not all of them.

    Edit:

    I might have figured it out actually. I'm using a network that has a network Internet blocker on it. it blocks gaming sites. might that be why it won't connect to the steam network?

    I just went to my routers home page (Linksys WRT54G) under basic set-up , I went to Clone MAC address----Enable-----Save settings----...It worked..

    I'm having this problem too. I did this:

    ·        ipconfig /release in the command prompt and press ENTER

    ·        ipconfig /renew in the command prompt and press ENTER

    And my wireless said I had internet access. But when I tried to load a site, it went back to having no access. Anything else I should do/try?
