How to Troubleshoot Bluetooth devices!

I just bought a new laptop that supports Bluetooth and when try to connect my Bluetooth phone, mouse and headphones things just don’t work. I’m not making any progress. I’m having trouble getting these set up and working properly. Can someone point me to some general Bluetooth troubleshooting information that might help?

Basic troubleshooting usually starts the same as with any other type of hardware devices. Try the following:

·         Make sure that the devices are supported by your operating system and then

·         Go to the manufacturer’s web site and download the latest version of software or drivers for those devices. While you’re there you might browse the site to see if there are known issues or other information for your device.

·         Make sure the Bluetooth device is listed in the Bluetooth Devices Browser in the Control Panel (keep in mind that some Bluetooth devices may install a custom dialog window for their device in the control panel).

·         Make sure that you’re system is up to date on any service packs and other updates for your operating system

    Unfortunately I am still having intermittent problems.

    I lose the bluetooth when the computer screensaver comes on and I bring it back.

    I am having the same issues.  I have Windows 7 and the Miccorosoft 5000 bluetooth mouse.  I cannot get my computer to even find the mouse now.  This is really getting frustrating.

    I have the same problem with an Acer 8730.  Acer is no help; their customer support is the worst.  Good luck to us.

    FYI - Bluetooth problem solved.

    After 2 weeks, I got the bluetooth stack installed in WINDOWS 7. For about $15, I bought a Cirago Bluetooth USB adapter , (BTA-3210 V2.1)

    It came with a disk that had the bluetooth stack software, (Toshiba software)

    I had found this bluetooth stack software on the internet, directly from Toshiba, but was reluctant installing it. It would have been valid for only thirty days.

    I'm now completely interfaced with my

    Motorola DC800 Tx/Rx device.

    I now have the house radiated with Bluetooth!

    I'm happy. (I never give up)

    Unfortunately I am still having intermittent problems.

    Sulli1 & Slickdoggie,

    I have the M15 Alienware laptop.  What Bluetooth Drive specifically do I need to delete in the Add/Remove program?  Is it the WIDCOMM Bluetooth Software???

    I have the Microsoft bluetooth notebook mouse 5000.

    I deleted the WIDCOMM Bluetooth software and reinstalled from Dell Support the same software for Bluetooth and it corrected my problem immeidately.  My system has now found all my Bluetooth items.
