Suddenly all my desktop icons have green check marks on them.  What does it mean?  How do I fix them?

Hi,

Do you use norton 360? Norton -> Settings -> Backup Settings -> Backup Status Overlays -> OFF -> Apply.  After you run your next backup (you can do it manually) the check marks will disappear.

Hope this helps.

If the issue you've now mentioned, started off with randomly on and off green ticks, similar to, but enlarged version of what Dropbox place over it's synced files. ... And then the next day (yesterday for me) they were all gone ??????

I have to hold some suspicion towards a virus, but also curious as to if you're using Windows 10? or less?

I would really like an answer to your issues if possible. I'd also be happy to help find the solution for you.

    Best regards,

    Sage

I just noticed the same issue today. I am running windows 10 do not use any backup programs and my antivirus is AVG. Refreshing my desktop makes them go away and I have notice the occasionally change to grey x's for a few seconds then go back to green ticks. The ticks themselves applier as a green circle with a white tick in the middle and I white border around the outside of the circle.
