Suddenly all my desktop icons have green check marks on them.  What does it mean?  How do I fix them?

Hi,

Do you use norton 360? Norton -> Settings -> Backup Settings -> Backup Status Overlays -> OFF -> Apply.  After you run your next backup (you can do it manually) the check marks will disappear.

Hope this helps.

How do I get rid of the green check mark off my desktop. I find it won't let me open some documents?

I don't have Norton 360 so this response doesn't work for me.

For me the Desktop Backup setting in the new Backup and Sync from Google seems to have been the cause.

    Thank you Glenn!

I do have Google Drive as well as Backup and Sync.  However, I could not find anything in the File Explorer or Google Drive giving me the option to continuously back up to Google Drive.

When I turn on the computer the desktop icons often have the white square with the arrow in it in the lower left corner.  That is later replaced by the green check marks.  Do the green check marks simply mean that the files in those apps were backed up or do they mean something else?

    Richard
