Green check marks on desktop icons

Suddenly all my desktop icons have green check marks on them.  What does it mean?  How do I fix them?

Hi,

Do you use norton 360? Norton -> Settings -> Backup Settings -> Backup Status Overlays -> OFF -> Apply.  After you run your next backup (you can do it manually) the check marks will disappear.

    i have green check marks and cant open anything

    TRY EITHER REBOOTING OR RIGHT CLICK ON AN EMPTY SPOT ON THE DESKTOP THEN CLICK REFRESH.  SEE IF THIS HELPS YOU AT ALL

    So, I had the same question. But I noticed that I was low on disk space. I uninstalled a program and the check marks went away.
