Suddenly all my desktop icons have green check marks on them.  What does it mean?  How do I fix them?

Hi,

Do you use norton 360? Norton -> Settings -> Backup Settings -> Backup Status Overlays -> OFF -> Apply.  After you run your next backup (you can do it manually) the check marks will disappear.

Hope this helps.

"OneDrive" causes this and since it is automatically loaded at a new version of Windows (Windows Upgrade) so it seems to show up without cause. To stop this simply have OneDrive NOT synch the Desktop.

F5 also works to get rid of the x's the same way as green check marks.  Hit F5 a few clicks, icons will disappear for a few seconds then reappear with no X's or green check marks.  Honestly, they will reappear from time to time so you have to do F5 again.  I think it's something to do with Win 10, but I'm no techie.  I still can't tell you why they come in the first place or what they are for.

I use google chrome and when the check marks appear, I hit F5 button a few clicks (3), they disappear a couple of seconds along with icons, then suddenly reappear with no checkmarks.
