I receive the following error code for updates 800 70641

Thus, you will want to make sure that the Windows Installer service is not in use prior to attempting updates. I got it fixed by going to http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/search.aspx?q=windows%20installer and installed **Windows** **Installer** 4.5 Redistributable and it took care of the problem. now everything installs successfully. Thanks for the help!

I did do everything what was written (stop the installer) but i still have the same error message WindowsUpdate_80070641" "WindowsUpdate_dt000 what can I do else?

I am having the same difficulties with 2 updates pertaining to Microsoft Windows 2007. I have Windows Vista 32bit. The 2 updates which refuse to upgrade are as follows: Update for Microsoft Office 2007 System (KB2539530) Security Update for the 2007 Microsoft Office 2007 System (KB951944) I'm getting the same error code 80070641. Have tried stopping the Windows Installer, and changing it from manual to automatic. All help gratefully received. Many thanks

Thanks - perfect solution for my problem on updates. Now I'm back to working with why internet explorer doesn't work anymore.
