I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit. How do I change the font color that describes the desktop icons?

Hi

You cannot change the Desktop font color.

Because Desktop wallpaper images have varying colors, it is easy for the font colors to be unreadable if they are on top of the same color as a wallpaper image. For instance a black font on top of a dark part of the background image or a white font on a white part of a background image.

The Desktop icon fonts are dynamic and will show white on dark backgrounds and change to white with a black shadow effect on a light background.

    A shaded white font would be great, but I have a 7 pt plain (unshaded) white font that is basically invisible unless highlighted by holding the cursor over it, in which case it is black.  How to fix?

    That's right. It should be user choice. Widows 8.1 sucks like that 7 in this way too.  I used XP and it was awesome.  It could be customized to USER specifications, which for me is very important because I'm sensitive to the light colors and have less than prime vision.  The white text which comes up on MOST backgrounds is horrible and actually blends in with a lot of backgrounds that are not super dark.  I hate it and can only find small relief from it by making is extra huge and ugly.  

    This Microsoft guy on here that REFUSES to listen to user desires and uphold the idea that this new **** is "better" must be thinking of users who don't want to go through the trouble of adjusting their text colors and thus "move their icons around so they can see the text"... seriously who does that?????  People who lack basic computer personalization skills!

    RIDICULOUS

    One approach to change the Icon text color from White to Black would be to change the Desktop color from a darker color to a lighter color.

    To accomplish this change you could proceed with the following steps:

    Click on the Start Button

    Select Control Panel

    Select Display

    Select Personalization located on the lower left hand side of the window.

    Select Window Color. This popup will be titled "Window Color and Appearance"

    Click on the Desktop area of this Popup or select Desktop from the choices under Item:.

    Click on color 1: and select Black or Gray colors to change the Icon Text from White to Black.
