I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit. How do I change the font color that describes the desktop icons?

Hi

You cannot change the Desktop font color.

Because Desktop wallpaper images have varying colors, it is easy for the font colors to be unreadable if they are on top of the same color as a wallpaper image. For instance a black font on top of a dark part of the background image or a white font on a white part of a background image.

The Desktop icon fonts are dynamic and will show white on dark backgrounds and change to white with a black shadow effect on a light background.

    You know, I wish I didn't have that shadow........ In a way, I want the text on my desktop invisible, because I want to just see the icons....... it saves room, and I like my computer neat and organized.......

    I agree 100% with you SheShe! I must admit.... Windows 7 works well for me, but I still can't believe that Microsoft doesn't allow us to change the icon font color. At least we can find the programs we want to use in the start menu....

    I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit. How do I change the font color that describes the desktop icons?

    Running Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit. I like it but disturbed with the white shadowed fonts of desktop icons, because frequently unreadables.  So looking for help here, I was able to manage the change of color to black and the exemption of shadow, with little steps.

    1. In Start menu search box type Change window color and metrics, press Enter.
    2. In Window colors and Appareance click item Desktop and set color 1 to white.
    3. Click Apply and OK.

    That works ever for this Desktop (or slide show, f. ex. Angry Birds) with black fonts underligned (not knowing why) and without shadow.

    I tried that and it didn't work... Thanks for the suggestion though.... :) I think Microsoft should have let us have the flexibility to at least be able to change the color of the desktop font. Don't you think?
