Desktop Icon Font Color - How do I change the font color of the text that describes desktop icons?

Windows 7 - Makes things easier!!!! Phfff..... I remember being able to do this in Windows XP. I can't in Windows 7.

Tell me. How is THAT easier?

In previous versions of Windows, it did not matter what color you picked for the Desktop fonts, some would always be rendered invisible because of the background color of a desktop wallpaper. The user was constantly moving icons around the desktop to a different colored area where the font could be read. This was the source of a large number of complaints from users asking for a font that was always visible, regardless of the color that was behind the font.

The white/shadowed font solves this problem.

I just got new computer and so with it Windows 7 and have been trying all day to change the white shadow font on the desktop under the icons. I finally see from these answers you CAN'T. This is a terrible decision by Microsoft. We are smart enough to know that light wallpaper needs dark front and the color we pick is our choice and should not be mandated by Microsoft.    The default white font with the shadow is not good.  Please consider  updating the software to change  this option back to the way it was in Windows XP. Give us back ALL of our personalization options for those of us that like to personalize our computer a specific way.  Having items "locked" is annoying.  Thank you for consideration.

Actually, the image in your link simply proves the point that I made in my post on 3/3/2010.

In your image, it's clear that the font drop shadows are not present and without these the text is rendered invisible when you have a desktop wallpaper with a multicolored background.

I too am bemonaing this..  your varied font may work on a solid background, but they don't work when there is an image displayed.

Even though I am running in the windows classic mode.. 

So I suppose I will need to look in the registry and find the setting there to make the changes.  Why should we have to install third party software to do this.

I suspect this is the last version of Windows I shall buy.

Except that it doesn't help for backgrounds that are mixed or in between.

Yes, it does. The Desktop font color is white with a black drop shadow effect. It doesn't matter what the background color is, mixed or solid, the font will always be visible. Here are a couple of screenshots that were taken awhile back when we were testing this. You can clearly see the drop shadow effect between the different colors.

That's all well and good Ronnie but I absolutely "HATE" the shadow and THAT is.. THE Very first thing that I change, removing that silly shadow.  Now.... as has been asked.... how do we change the COLOR?   Please, there HAS to be a way to do that.
