I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit. How do I change the font color that describes the desktop icons?

Hi

You cannot change the Desktop font color.

Because Desktop wallpaper images have varying colors, it is easy for the font colors to be unreadable if they are on top of the same color as a wallpaper image. For instance a black font on top of a dark part of the background image or a white font on a white part of a background image.

The Desktop icon fonts are dynamic and will show white on dark backgrounds and change to white with a black shadow effect on a light background.

    Except...your reasons suck. Come on Microsoft, I've been using Windows for almost 20 years. Some of these changes are extremely lame and there is no reason for them! I highly doubt anyone was complaining "hey microsoft, there are too many choices! Please take them away!" We all liked being able to make the font whatever colors we liked, then you took it away. You can repost the same response over and over but the truth remains that the two choices you left us with suck. I like to use photos as my background, and the photos have different colors throughout, so typically neither of your two choices work.

    While I'm at it, off topic, but Windows 8 realllly sucks. Why on earth do that to people? Not everyone wants a table-style touch screen-style set up. It is AWFUL and I happen to be very computer savvy. Thank goodness we still have 7 at work but when we switch over it will be a nightmare.

    Worked for me as well.   Color was set to white, but my text was black on my desktop.   I changed the color to black and for some reason my desktop text is white.   Don't care why, just like that I can now read it.   Thanks CatMParker!

    This is not true. At least not on my Windows 7 Pro 64Bit PC. I have many backgrounds in my background slideshow that have white parts and you cannot see the text on the desktop icons over those parts at all. The text does not change color dynamically. This is why I need to change the color to an off white or gray. Is there truly no way to do this?
