Very big mouse-pointer in Windows 7 Home Basic 64-bit

I've had Windows 7 for about 2 weeks now and I'm just loving it. One annoying problem which I'm gonna ask here is that the mouse pointer suddenly becomes very big and it really is a pain since it also becomes big in games etc... I've tried using the Easy of Access in Control Panel by checking the box for extra big mouse pointer, it becomes bigger and after un-checking it the mouse-pointer becomes it's "normal" big size. The only way to solve the problem is a reboot at the moment. Please help me.

I currently have the following machine:

Windows 7 Home Basic 64-bit

Intel i5 2,66GHz processor

Gigabyte P55-UD3R motherboard

Gigabyte HD5770 graphics card

Logitech MX518 Optical Gaming Mouse

Logitech G15 V1.0 Gaming Keyboard

600W PSU

All my drivers are up-to-date and I can't figure out what's causing the problem, it can happen while using Word, playing WoW or just surfing the Internet.

Never had the same problem in any other OS.

P.S. My e-mail address has changed and didn't find a way to change it so I'll come check this post every now and then :)

Hey!

try download this and when finished just double klick it to install.... @BIOS Ver 2.07   3mb   from

http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Motherboard/Utility_List.aspx

after starting the program click "Update Bios from gigabyte server"..and follow instructions..

This updated my bios  from F2 to F4   and the big mouse cursor was gone for good..

So far so good you're method is working for me :) finally something good. 

One thing I have to add that the online update didn't work for me (for reasons unknown, even uninstalled my anti-virus for it) so I'll break it down what I did to make it work in case someone else had the same issues :D

  1. Download @BIOS from Greev84's link
  2. Extract it and run the setup.exe
  3. After installation go to Start -> All Programs -> Gigabyte and right-click @BIOS and choose "Run as Administrator"
  4. Choose Yes in the confirm box
  5. Now you should have @BIOS running :)
  6. Go to Gigabyte's homepage and download your latest BIOS to your specific motherboard (if it is newer than you current which is displayed in @BIOS after "BIOS Sign on Message"

  1. Extract the BIOS into a folder, I created a BIOS folder on the desktop.
  2. Now in @BIOS choose "Update BIOS from File" and navigate to the destination to where you extracted the BIOS you downloaded (in my case Desktop\BIOS)
  3. Double-click on the file which isn't an executable (look at picture). In my case it was the "p55ud3r.f4"-file.
  4. It will display a progress bar which says erasing and writing depending on what it's currently doing.
  5. Reboot and run @BIOS to confirm that the update worked :)

One thing I might add that the two failed times my OS boot was normal speed, but after the BIOS update my OS boot became lightning fast!! :O

    Click on Mouse in the Control Panel, then on the Pointers tab.  Various selections in there to choose depending on which takes your fancy.

    That's not the issue, and as I already explained it doesn't solve anything. The issue is that suddenly, out of the blue, my mouse pointer becomes as big as my thumb, and stays that way until I reboot.

    Hello Bubbelibuu,

    Thank you for your post.  Let's run a clean boot to ensure there isn't a 3rd party application (prank software) that is affecting your mouse pointer.  Click HERE for the instructions to perform a clean boot as well as the troubleshooting techniques to eliminate the application that is interfering.  A clean boot will boot your system without any 3rd party software, please test to make sure your mouse does or doesn't work appropriately before you open any 3rd party applications.  Don't be alarmed, the Vista method for clean boot is the same in Windows 7.  Please let us know if this did or didn't help to resolve your problem.

    i have the exact same thing happening to me, i boot up every thing fine, then suddly when i run a programe like ie or mail or any other, my mouse pointer go's really big the weird bit is when i run windows magnifier my mouse go's back to being small, when i close the programe it go big again this surely must be a bug? its doing my head in like the bubbelibuusaid it makes my pointers in game look stupidly big please help!! i have a 22" inc full hd moniter and the mouse point is like 1" big

    do i have to run windows magnifier every time i boot up just to get a small pointer or reboot, wish i stuck with vista as i never ever had this truble before -.-

    oh jason H, i have tryed this and still massive mouse pointers every time i log into windows, havent got anything install only wow and its a clean install of windows 7
