Need to Reinstall Windows Installer in Windows 7

HI I NEED TO REINSTALL WINDOWS INSTALLER ON WINDOWS 7 BUT I CANNOT FIND A DOWNLOAD FOR IT  .I SEE FIXES FOR VISTA XP ETC BUT NOTHING FOR 7

Click Start

Type: CMD, from the results, right click CMD

Click 'Run as Administrator'

At the Command Prompt, type: sfc/scannow

This will check for any integrity violations

Restart your system

  1. Insert the Windows 7 DVD
  2. Restart your computer
  3. When asked if you want to boot from your DVD drive, do so.
  4. Choose your language, click Next.
  5. Click 'Repair your computer'
  6. Select operating system you want to repair.

    Hello, I tried to follow these steps, but in step one when I try to click Start in the Windows Installer Properties, it says, "Windows could not start the Windows Installer service on Local Computer.  Error 2: The system could not find the file specified."  Is there anything I can possibly do myself in order to fix it?

    I followed your advice but once I got to User account controls and I saw the slider it was already on the bottom... So I guess this problem is impossible to correct :S Also I am getting errors that say 306.dll unable to find or something like that. So yay! new problem arrived

    Hi. I had the same issue. I was able to solve it by turning off my user account controls. Go to START. Then Control Panel and access user accounts. I had to manually type in user account controls. Slide the control all the way down. A restart will be required. This worked for me. Remember to only do this if you trust the downloads you are making. Once you complete your downloads. You can reset the controls the same way you. Hope this helps.
