Click Start

Type: CMD, from the results, right click CMD

Click 'Run as Administrator'

At the Command Prompt, type: sfc/scannow

This will check for any integrity violations

Restart your system

  1. Insert the Windows 7 DVD
  2. Restart your computer
  3. When asked if you want to boot from your DVD drive, do so.
  4. Choose your language, click Next.
  5. Click 'Repair your computer'
  6. Select operating system you want to repair.

I followed your instructions on how to repair Windows Installer but it didnt work. I still get the same error "cant connect to "e:/\pictures"...this has both slashes and can see that there is no such directory but i need to remove this step so that the installer works. I get this error message when trying to install 2 different programs (Adobe Reader and Cyberlink YouCam). I did not find all the places you mentioned in the Regedit stage.
