Click Start

Type: CMD, from the results, right click CMD

Click 'Run as Administrator'

At the Command Prompt, type: sfc/scannow

This will check for any integrity violations

Restart your system

  1. Insert the Windows 7 DVD
  2. Restart your computer
  3. When asked if you want to boot from your DVD drive, do so.
  4. Choose your language, click Next.
  5. Click 'Repair your computer'
  6. Select operating system you want to repair.

Well not helpful in my case.

    1. sfc/scannow found no integrity errors.
    2. Using the repair facility from booting from the the original DVD did not give me the oppertunity as the repair options did not include registry problems so sorry no good.

I have also used Microsofts solution by using a Msirepair.reg file created by Microsoft but that didnt work either so if anyone has a sure fire way of fixing the Windows installer problem please shout.
