Print Spooler wont start windows 7 error 1053

I am trying to install a printer on windows 7 but the print spooler wont start so i can't install

I have accessed the services.msc menu and tried to manually restart the spooler it is at this point that it i get the error msg:

 Error 1053 Did not respond in timely manner etc . I have tried a computer restart but to no avail.

What should I do as i have no printing capacity but i do have scanning??

The registry key seems OK.

Can you run the system file checker to check for system file corruption - follow Option 1 in the folliwng link:

A system restore will not work in this situation as the printer never worked.

    So, on Vista it did work, never had problems..

    I replaced the registry key in a virtual Windows 7 installation with the one you provided and everything worked OK, so the problem does not appear to be there.

    Have you tried a "clean boot" and see if that makes a difference?:

    Follow Step 1 to clean boot and Step 7 to return to a normal startup.

    At this point you may want to consider a repair installation of Windows 7.

    There appears to be something in the configuration that is not working and a repair may fix that.

    System Restore would not be viable as it appears that this issue has existed from or close to the initial Windows 7 install.
