I had this same problem. Out of no where my printer would not work; I think it was after installing a game and DX11 was updated, IDK either way it was broken. After tracing the problem it ended up being that the "spooler" would not start and a constant
"ERROR: 1053". After trying everything on all the forum boards and Windows help websites, nothing worked. So I uninstalled the printer and its drivers, renamed the "SPOOL" file to "spool.old";
path=(computer>Local Disk (C:)>Windows>System32> spool), rename this to "spool.old",
then I ran the "sfc /scannow" command as a administrator; it found problems and repaired them, then a PC restart, finally I reinstalled the printer and, /cross-fingers. HOORAY!, it worked, the spooler was able to start allowing proper installation of my printer;
FINALLY! I think the problem is in the spools registry, IDK it worked for me I hope it works for you.
