I am trying to install a printer on windows 7 but the print spooler wont start so i can't install
I have accessed the services.msc menu and tried to manually restart the spooler it is at this point that it i get the error msg:
Error 1053 Did not respond in timely manner etc . I have tried a computer restart but to no avail.
What should I do as i have no printing capacity but i do have scanning??

The registry key seems OK.
Can you run the system file checker to check for system file corruption - follow Option 1 in the folliwng link:

A system restore will not work in this situation as the printer never worked.
Did you try running the System File Checker?.
To do so, follow Step 1 and Step 2, under "Use the System File Checker tool ....." in the following MS KB article:
I have the same problem at the moment, but dont really understand how you fixed it when you had it.
