Print Spooler wont start windows 7 error 1053

I am trying to install a printer on windows 7 but the print spooler wont start so i can't install

I have accessed the services.msc menu and tried to manually restart the spooler it is at this point that it i get the error msg:

 Error 1053 Did not respond in timely manner etc . I have tried a computer restart but to no avail.

What should I do as i have no printing capacity but i do have scanning??

The registry key seems OK.

Can you run the system file checker to check for system file corruption - follow Option 1 in the folliwng link:

A system restore will not work in this situation as the printer never worked.

    @kevinMcNeil  I have tried a lot of solution and none worked, but this simple step : unchecking the "Allow service to interact with desktop setting" works!!!

    there is another repair on spiceworks which explains why this has happened and a repair.

    1. Click Start, type “services.msc” and hit Enter.
    2. Scroll down to Print spooler.
    3. Right-click Print spooler, then select Properties.
    4. Select the Log On tab, and uncheck the Allow service to interact with desktop setting.

    (Microsoft recommends that you do not change the Allow service to interact with desktop setting. If you allow the service to interact with the desktop, any information that the service displays on the desktop will also be displayed on an interactive user's desktop. A malicious user could then take control of the service or attack it from the interactive desktop).

    1. Once you have uncheck this setting, select the General tab and click "Start" (the Print Spooler should be able to start without popping up the Error 1053 again).

    it will fix it, somehow windows update is changing this setting, just put it back, restart the service and you can print..You are welcome

    If like me you have tried all the answers on here to repair the print spooler. Here is the fix,

    if you have microsoft office installed open control panel, open program and features select microsoft office at the top of the page select change and select repair office.

    When it completes Restart your computer and it should now be fixed.
