Adobe software does in fact run in Windows7! Both CS4 and CS5 run very well in Windows7.

The answer is yes it does run! Adobe software will run in Windows 7 and that is true for cs4 and cs5 versions of the creative suite from Adobe.

If you have to remove the product you must deactivate the Adobe software first or you will not be allowed to re-install the Adobe software. Which happened on a drive failure for Adobe CS3 Photoshop and I was not allowed to re-install the software for 9 months and only on one computer. So be warned if you have a harddrive fail you may not be allowed to re-install the Adobe software on the replacement harddrive, because Adobe sees the new harddrive as a new computer. If you must remove the Adobe software for any reason you must deactivate it first!

Adobe software will run under windows 7! The new CS5 versions were designed for windows 7 and CS4 will run, but you will not get a performance boost with quad-core or higher processors. You do get the added performance with the New CS5 products.

On October 9, 2009 CS4 release was designed for both Windows XP and Vista on the pc side, because Windows 7 had not been released yet. Windows 7 has now been fully tested to work with Adobe products and it does work.

If you are having problems, I suggest you contact Adobe Support and insure you are using the lastest updates or patches from Adobe and Microsoft. Backup your work and run defrag.  If you are running Vista, I say upgrade to Windows 7 you will be glad you did. Vista is a bad operating system and the sooner you put it into the past the better.

Adobe Software does run in Windows 7! That goes for both CS4 and CS5! Adobe CS5 is one well written program and I am glad, I beta tested CS5 and upgraded to it. I have it running on several computers running Windows 7 and I am happy to report no issues with Adobe Software.

The original post was from my contact with Adobe support by phone. Windows 7 has been out for a year now and it has been tested by Adobe and they made several improvements and refinements to insure Adobe products run in Windows 7.

Hmm, now you say what you're mentioning above, where does Dreamweaver store it's "root" website files?  If it is in the root of the c: drive, surely that isn't best practice and is something adobe should address as the root of the file system is protected by default.  If it stores the websites in your my documents area (where they should be stored), then there isn't a problem....

Can you let us know where it is storing these website files (i.e. the entire file path)?

    Well..I decided to install a trial version of CS5.5  Mastersuite on my windows 7 computer (around four months old) , I had CS4 design premium already installed and Adobe said they would run alongside one another no problemo...but..trial expires, I uninstall and try to use my paid for CS4..it asks for the serial and then doesn't accept it, so I search the net and delete every file I can find and all the extra filters that I purchased...then try to re install CS4 after deactivating and uninstalling it as well 12 hours later ie no sleep in around 26 hours having sat all night online with the Adobe tech running my desktop with 10 different fixes..no matter what happened with all his knowledge, databases etc no way would it install...to be fair the tech was online with me for around 6 hours trying to nut it out and was polite etc. So here I am today with work to do and no CS4 or even CS5.5 trial absolutely rooted and no way known around the issue.

    As for working well CS4 performed admirably on Windows 7 as did CS 5.5...however there is no use buying or installing it when it ferx the whole computer...on performance the program had me won especially Photoshop 5.1 or whatever the number is in the suite. I am still battling my way through searching and deleting anything and everything with adobe on the machine..in the vein hope that I may just get lucky and be able to somehow be able to reinstall it.

    Prob is that I am a carer for my husband who has MS and is legally blind so now no sleep until tonight..

    This is a multi-paged post have you struggled through all the other suggestions it contains?

    Have you tried right-clicking on the shortcut to the program, or the .exe, and selecting the "Run As Administrator" option?  Do so even if your user is an Admin.

    Try right-clicking on the actual Setup.exe and selecting the "Run As Administrator" option?  Do so even if your user is an Admin.

    Can you use a Virtual Machine solution.

    Windows XP Mode (Windows 7 only, but not any of the Home versions)   "You are not eligible to download Windows XP Mode. You must have Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise, or Ultimate to run Windows XP Mode".    If you have an old XP CD (or other older Windows CD)  available you can just download the Virtual Machine and skip the XP Mode download.

    This covers the whole gambit of virtual machines in "Home" versions if you want to have a look at it.  Of course you will need a licensed copy of XP to install and  run in any of them (except XP Mode).
